Selecting page at top of editor

@sim, @jfperusse

Don’t actually think this is a bug (and might have been present for a long time) but am using a fine pointer now to edit and access pages and I found that when I tapped close to the top of an editing page button (dark green) Codea doesn’t respond. You need to be tapping half way up or in bottom third.

Then I noticed that the time and date background and beyond (on the left) has the same background inferring that that line is extended to the right edge of the screen and hence that area doesn’t respond to my pointer taps.

If you made that area a lighter shade the button area would be more obvious. Alternatively you could draw a thin line , contrasting colour around the actual button/contact area or just overlap/extend the touch area to the top of each page.

Trivial I know but it would make the touch areas obvious,

That is the status bar area I think you are referring to - you are correct that you can’t tap in that region. We could add a fade or something to make it more noticeable

That said, there is a new design coming with much more obvious tabs. So we might leave it til then!

@sim - thanks for the reply, never noticed it before but tended to use my fingers rather than a pointer, you’ve now left me drooling with anticipation for the editor upgrade (I’m sure it’s the one that I keep opening - don’t know what the trigger is I just re-install to resolve).

I’m not sure HOW you keep opening the new editor! But here’s a Codea project you can use to change the editor back to the normal one — just run it and tap “Standard”, then close the project and the editor and open a new project

function setup()
    local defaults = objc.NSUserDefaults.standardUserDefaults
    local key = "EditorVersion"

    local function selectEditor(version)
        -- Defaults stores this enum as a JSON-encoded string.
        defaults:setObject_forKey_('"' .. version .. '"', key)
        print("Saved editor: " .. version)
        print("Stop this project and reopen the editor.")
        print("If needed, quit and relaunch Codea.")
    end

    print("Stored value:", defaults:stringForKey_(key))

    parameter.action("Standard", function()
        selectEditor("Standard")
    end)

    parameter.action("Navigator", function()
        selectEditor("Navigator")
    end)

    parameter.action("Beta", function()
        selectEditor("Beta")
    end)
end

function draw()
    background(30)
end

@sim - thanks for the post, worked fine for me and gave me a better glimpse of the new editor. Obviously a project still in development but interface looks good.

@Bri_G you are the man of magical bugs! Somehow you find your way into bugs no one else does, it seems like, doesn’t it?

@ubergoober - I think some of the posts I’ve made recently should have been resolved, by me, and just using common sense.

Thankfully @sim and the team have a lot of patience.
