So, I’m recently reading a book about Lua in the iBooks app when I downloaded Codea on my iPad. Codea uses Lua as a primary language to code hence why I decided to read a book before I start coding on the aforementioned app. However, Codea looks like a very tricky app to start coding so I kinda want to know where are the instructions to code for beginners. Any suggestions? If so, please comment under my post so I can get started.
Here is a series I made:
It teaches you how to use Modern Codea, if you want to have episode 7 I can make it.
Thanks for the Codea tutorials on your Mac computer. It’s ok to make episode 7 just to add more details about Codea and its new features. I only have a Windows computer to type a code easily but still, thanks for the tips.
Hi Nicmarie - please set yourself up an ID for the forum rather then your website address.
There are a few options for you that still remain available - the best is from Ignatz (link below).
Ignatz Codea( 1. Starting with Codea | coolcodea )
Hope that helps - he breaks down projects so that you can see how they work.
Good Luck with it.
Me again - just found this link whilst searching for other options - haven’t read it yet but first impressions suggest it could be good source/support for learning Codea.
Codea for kids( https://kidscodecs.com/codea-tutorials/ )
Another link from the early days was with Reefwing - who wrote a stepwise development of a minesweeper project.

Thanks. Just downloaded three PDFs from the link you sent me.
The third link is not sending me to the user regarding the first steps to make codes on Codea. However, I appreciate the second link just to mark it as a reminder.
Try this link - found it OK on my iPad

Ok. I got the link. Thanks for the suggestions. ![]()
Personally I love poking around other people’s projects to see what I can learn and what I can use for my own stuff.
I’d say you should use WebRepo and download a ton of projects—or as many as catch your eye—and have some fun seeing what people have done.
Ok. I’ll try searching once I’m able to return. I have not heard of that website but I’ll do it.
I tried searching for WebRepo. I cannot find that website or app you’re recommending me. It must be easy for me to find it if you just send me a link to the WebRepo page.
Here is a link to the download of Webrepo, which is a web library of Codea projects. It is a download of the library to install.

p.s. the post with the link, from the author, is just below this post !!! At the top of the forum.
I just downloaded the file in the “Projects” section of the Codea page. The program is well produced, even though it has a few errors in its coding section before running.
So what am I going to do with all these apps and files in the WebRepo program and website? Am I just going to download them all?? I downloaded the Pong and Flappy Bird games on my “Projects” section, so I don’t know which of these sites should I download to start making my own projects.
One way to go here is to think of what you want to do, and then start looking around to see if you can find pieces of it that someone may have done already, and if you find some start looking at the code to see how it works.
The other way to go is to download a bunch of projects other people have done, and run them, and see if that gives you ideas about something else that’s cool that you could turn any of them into, and then start looking at the code to see how it works.
Ok. That’s fine by me. I think I should download more to see how those things work out in the coding process.
