Problem with downloaded file

All,

Struggling with a project I downloaded from the website that @dave1707 posted. It was for setting up a scene and involved a 3D star map. The project runs as is but I needed to load another star map to check the displays. @dave1707 had incorporated the graphic file in his posted project (as evident from the size of the project). The project was in my iCloud folder, but -

I couldn’t see the image in the assets folder from the menu bar.

When I tried to use the asset address to the project in the iCloud storage the project (and many other projects) were greyed out.

I could add another starmap file to the project but it wouldn’t display - asset not found.

I think this infers that some project folders in iCloud can not be accessed via the asset system.

@sim @john - is this the case ?
Why can’t I access the folder assets ?

Edit: subsequent thought on this, could it be that, since I have two iPads and consequently two Codea folders on iCloud, that users are restricted to editing and access of files from the other iPad. Possibly OK to run but otherwise restricted access ?

@sim @john - thank you, the duplicate “.” files have disappeared from Codea on my older iPad. In addition this version 3.12.2(483) operates a lot faster than the previous 3.12.2(482). Will continue to check out the update.
Thanks again :+1:

483 crashes consistently for me when scrolling the editor-i can’t do anything. I’m on a ipad pro. Sent 3 crash reports.

@piinthesky @sim @john - newer iPad (both are pro’s) just froze on me when I tried to load and run Webrepo.scrolled up to switch apps then went back to Codea and Webrepo which seemed to be running OK.

Edit: have the crash reports pointed at the cause ?

Edit 2: even the locally stored projects when run, stopped and back in editor crash shortly after.

Edit 3: just a thought - could this have something to do with having two Codea folders on iCloud ? How does Codea establish contact initially with iCloud. I load projects from one pad to another by exporting zip files, which I assume implicitly copies the addresses for the assets could those addresses be pointing to the wrong Codea folder ? Is there any way to ensure Codea on different iPads store and load from a common iCloud store ?

I think I see the source of some crashes, especially related to loading up your projects in the project browser. Attempting a fix for next build

@sim - thanks for the reply. Now on 3.12.2(491) and this looks very close to the smooth running project I’m used to.

Tried to post a project before but struggled with it. It’s a simple FPS project that’s been posted before. I’ll attach it here. There’s a couple of points with this -

  1. when I run it on my latest pad a cycles through the readings then appears to briefly pause at a value of 89. Wondered if that was significant.
  2. On my old pad, with the latest and last versions of Codea,
    StatusBar & FPS.zip (8.2 KB)
the FPS bar is not displayed just a blank black screen with sidebar.
