When your developer license expires, any apps you have on the App Store disappear. People can no longer purchase them. I don’t know if people who have already purchased them can re-download apps or not.
That’s a nice incentive for people to keep paying Apple each year

Well, it probably does cost a lot to keep those servers up and running, and looking through the inappropriate apps, so I don’t blame them.
