@NatTheCoder, Glad you like it! I am actually under 18, so I have to release my app under my mother’s name. (legal stuff…). But my name is in fact Patrick

Can anyone who has downloaded iOS 8 verify if Acorn Mayhem still works on iOS 8? I have not downloaded it to any of my devices yet but I am getting black screens and crashes in the iOS simulator with iOS 8 :frowning: (iOS 7 still works).

EDIT: I have identified and fixed the crash with iOS 8 (it was a bug with the synthesizing of the description property of iAPProduct.h in @Zoyt 's in app purchase library (fix: add

@synthesize description;

to iAPProduct.m)) and uploaded the update to apple.

thanks,

~Patrick

Acorn Mayhem 1.0.2 is now available! Please update and rate 5 stars!

EDIT: forgot to post earlier, it has been available for a while

How many downloads have you gotten? Image

@GriffinC So far relatively underwhelming downloads, only 73 so far (now generally 1-3 per day) :frowning:

I have earned a total of $1.01 from iAds as of yesterday. :frowning:

I would be happy to hear any suggestions on how to improve these statistics, and, of course, make sure to tell your friends :).

thanks,

~Patrick

Buy Super Bowl ad space for ridiculously high prices. Make little revenue in return and end up screwed.

Unfortunately you’re up against thousands of other people doing much the same thing. Realistically, unless your app breaks new ground or goes viral like Flappy Bird (and that is extremely unpredictable), it is going to struggle.

There are some suggestions on this thread
http://codea.io/talk/discussion/4398/best-way-to-market-my-app/p1

and plenty of advice out there on the internet, I’m sure!

But I think you should accept that your first effort may not do well. Angry Birds was the 52nd app produced by Rovio (see this - http://www.accelawrate.com/overnight-success-is-a-myth/), and in most professions, it takes a lot of practice (and a lot of failure) to do well.

And as Goatboy76 said on the thread I linked above, “If you call fully producing your own well thought out, fun, and highly polished game as your first app on the app store, when your not reliant on its sale to survive, unsuccessful, then I think your going to be trekking many miles without realizing your accomplishments.”
