I was curious if anyone with computer specialties can help me figure out what I need to purchase server wise.
I need people on a mobile app to be able to login to an account and upload photos and strings to a place they can later download from.
You don’t need your own server. You can make an account on a host server. There are dozens that will do it, some of them are free.
Your best bet is to Google a good server host and rent a domain with hosting. You can then put things like PHP scripts on it so your app can connect and upload data. It can be a little expensive, around $20-$30/mo for the domain and the hosting, but it works well, and you can use it for lots of different things (services for as many apps as you want, web APIs, databases, even just a normal website for your company).
