Vote the Next Feature [Fantasy Town]

It started as a proof-of-concept: I wanted to show that one can quickly come up with a playable game prototype in Codea in just a few days. I used almost exclusively Codea graphic assets and took a couple of days to whip up this prototype. It’s similar to triple-town but with features I always thought the game should have. It’s playable, even fun, but definitely not addictive yet.

I have no strong push to develop the game in any direction, so I thought: why not crowd-source with the Codea community and see where that leads us?

Anyone can download the code and play it here:

I’ll close the vote by Friday and add in the features this weekend if I have time. Repeat if interest is strong.

Cheers

Any chance of getting the files on gist or individually on dropbox? Screens look cool!

@zapaper you’ve done an amazing job with the presentation. Looks amazingly polished and neat.

Downloaded and will give it a try today.

@zapaper I gave this a try, but the land tiles seem to be rendered as trees, not land tiles, as in your screenshot. Makes it a bit confusing.

Thanks @simeon. There’s an error on codea export function. It auto-exports all sprites except those from “planet cute”. Just copy the ‘planet cute’ sprite folder and you should good.

Alternatively, I have updated the zip file (with sprites) here:

I am thinking of starting a kickstarter and app on this. The game will EVOLVE every fortnight purely based on user feedback. Fortnight is roughly how long apple takes to review + a couple of days for me to code. A new way of developing game, leveraging on app distribution and feedback channels

Cheers

@zapaper, what font did you use for the name of the game on the title screen?
