It’s only 3pm and I’ve declined over 400 spam applicants so far. Heading for a new record today. Also removed IlikeMc who was spamming and then said he was Noobatcoding.
Can we get the source IP of registration requests? You can’t use it solo, but if you have 250 registration requests and 243 of them are from the same IP, you are well-justified in rejecting those 243 and blackholing that IP for a while (ie. simply auto-rejecting anything from that IP for the next 30 days…)
@Simeon I noticed that torrentail was approved 2 times and GriffinC was approved 3 times. Is there a problem with them.
@dave1707 yeah the applicant thing is really strange, I noticed that too. There’s no problem with the actual users.
@Simeon No spam applicants today. I guess whatever you did is working.
@dave1707 it’s a registration restriction plugin, it redirects any spam applicant to a 404 page if it matches their reason for joining against the list below. I also block specific IPs that are repeated spam attempts.

@Simeon Question. iluvecodea was asking questions about a discussion of his being closed and that he wasn’t responsible. I looked at his account and see that he has 2 discussions and 1 comment, but it show 0 visits. If he has 0 visits, how can he see anything to start discussions or make comments.
@dave1707 I’m not sure how visits are tracked — it could be something like disabled cookies or a browser configuration issue. I think the visit count is just wrong in this instance.
@Simeon I think I know why iluvecodea doesn’t show any visits. If he was on the forum when he got approved and never left, he’ll show no visits. You have to leave the forum and come back in to add 1 to the visits count.
Several people that I’ve accepted turned out to have 2 usernames. I don’t know they’re the same person until I accept them and look at the user list and see that they have the same IP address. I’m just wondering if a PM should be sent to them asking which username they want to use because one of them will be deleted. Or should they have 2 usernames as long as they don’t cause problems.

Is the post by karmilabunac beneficial to anyone or should a PM be sent to him and that post be removed. To me it looks like some kind of advertisement. But maybe it’s useful to someone who wants to market an app. I don’t know since I don’t create apps for the App Store.
