Is there a performance difference between translate or not

Is it worth to move rectangles in a mesh instead of using translate to position them, or is there no difference?

translate(x,y)
m:draw()

or

m:draw() and using setRect to update the position?

I’ve used translate and setRect to move the character in my game and each way the Fps is exactly the same, I haven’t really bothered to check the actual speed difference
