How Disney modelled snow in the Frozen movie

That’s some incredible stuff. I found the packing slightly unrealistic but the rest was really impressive and I found it interesting how easily they could vary the type of snow

Can someone post the link of it on CC so I can access it on my computer, please? Right now I’m having a few issues with my iPad’s wifi. Thanks!

I wonder how many people were involved in modelling that snow.

If I was working there, I would probably have only got to draw that triangular block they dropped the snow on :-j

I think you should all check out the link below - real-time particles, collisions and fluid simulation… and works on pretty much every platform:

@andymac3d That’s absolutely amazing =))

@andymac3d That’s not particles, that’s grid based.

@Causeless - you are pedantically correct. :-p

(P.s. Technically, fluid grids also contain velocity info per voxel which can be used to push particles around - although not in this example)

This makes realize that animation doesn’t just consist of preprogrammed sequences, but also involves a lot of real time simulation. That must’ve taken some time to render it all!

Uh. @Kjell, There is no real time simulation involved. Whatsoever.
