Very cool. When the competition is over, I’ll try and show how to fracture squares.
@Zoyt Thanks, it’s on its way now, I still need to sprite the player though…
New video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAj70HccQRo
Features the all new joint editor, currently in the process of changing it to a scrolling box with the ui objects in it, I need more space for some joints such as slider and axis. The video contains a demonstration of how to make a spring in box2d using the distance joint, but also shows the features of the joint editor.
This is turning into something great, @Luatee.
+1 Following your progress with great interest!
Thanks guys, nearly finished the basic sandbox then I’ll move on to the levels. If anyone can help the boxes don’t start moving as soon as I set the density which is weird, you’ll see at the start of the video, I had to sort of move it up before it would take effect.

Anyway new feature, entity editor, set the density, restitution and friction of the entity using the toolgun, I will use the space on the side bar when the entity editor is not active for presets on joints, such as motors on an axis, which is only possible with joint editor.
@Luatee how about offering some presets for materials (foam, rubber, wood, metal)? Tie the presets to a shader, and it would be super. Oh, and don’t forget allowing people to create floating / antigravity materials.
AWW IM DYING TO PLAY IT,
@Mark I was thinking of making a physical properties tool containing these presets, I think we’re on the same page here. A gravity toggle will be included in the presets.
The presets are:
Rubber
Ice
Super Ice
Wood
Metal
Foam
Dirt
I’m going to try my best to learn how to create effects with shaders so I can make some good dirt trails and sparks for metal (I think that’s what you were talking about?), but that might be a bit down the line. Also possibly sounds for collisions if I find some good ones with a variety, that will have to wait for Codea 2.0
@TheRogueBatcher Haha thanks. It may be a while… I’m thinking of putting the sandbox on the app store for free when I’ve finished it, for a bit.
I’ve not used test flight but I’m thinking this could be used to easily release a version of the app without App Store permissions and the processing delays…
Well the sooner the better… Not pressuring you or anything! I just really wanna play it!
Well I would like to release it in beta to make sure there are no bugs first so that might not be such a wait, thanks for your enthusiasm!
@Luatee It looks good! Are you able/will be able to make machines?
@Prynok See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sak5TMmVy4k
Simple mechanics there, I’m going to add gear models and pulley joints (if I can find a stable enough method) to help create some more detailed machinery.
!!! This is amazeballs! I’m guessing you’re never going to release the source-code, tho
I finally got a wifi fast enough to see the video. Amazing! Looking forward to it.
If you release it in the App Store can you make it free or pm me a redeem code? PLEASE
I haven’t been able to see this because the videos are white boxes to me.
Do you have iMessage sky?
I can imessage the videos to you!
@Luatee I just noticed the green ray! It looks amazing! Is it a shader, sprite, or lines?
WOAH I JUST CAME BACK TO THIS POST AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS SKYTHECODER XD
[UPDATE] they just loaded everything is ok now
Now it’s working on my Mac!
