Code protection

Is there (or is it planned for the future) a way to protect the lua code when released with the Runtime library? I think that even if not really secure, having something like encription of the files would be very welcome.

If not, is there any limitation in using obfuscator softwares on lua code, with codea runtime library?

You could modify the Runtime library to load Lua-compiled byte code as well as plain text. If you do, we would be happy to merge the changes into the official runtime tree.

It’s something we might add ourselves in the future, though we haven’t had the need for it just yet.
